The City of Dreams

Its been a while since I’ve really travelled to a new place with new ventures, new dreams.. etc.. And after a long gap, this happened… THE CITY OF DREAMS aka MAYANAGRI. I never knew why they called Mumbai by this name. I dint bother looking it up, but few days spent there made me realise perhaps, its because people go there with a pocket full hopes and a heart full of dreams. There is no scale of dreaming because you can be anything and anyone in this city, more importantly.. Be yourself..

I also wanted to call it a city that never sleeps, with a traffic in full swing during wee hours, its difficult to make out what time it is just by looking around you. Its not my first visit to this city but I must admit what it once was to what it has become now is like Chalk and Cheese. Navi Mumbai really opens up a horizon of new opportunities and a world of newness compared to anything else that one normally experiences in other parts of the country.

A rare view of the two iconic buildings in Colaba, Mumbai: The Gateway of India (Left) & Taj Mahal Hotel (Right)

Being the hub of Bollywood, this is home to the Baadshahs (meaning: Kings) of bollywood to Being Human or every Kapoor the world has ever known. People who come with dreams of being a superstar are also welcome here. Mumbai is well known for its shopping and I can confidently tell you that with enough time in hand, a good choice of shopping options at all budget ranges is possible here. If you ever plan to visit, don’t miss out on the causeways and bazaars of Mumbai.

Its Modern yet Iconic, with those names of places which any Indian would recognise, be it Colaba in the south to Bandra, Dadar or Worli in the centre to Santacruz or Juhu in the north. A visitor must never miss travelling through the Bandra-Worli Sea Link bridge or spending a sunset moment beside the Gateway of India. Colaba is home to the famous Taj Mahal hotel which is a view to experience and surely a click to please your photo library. Whilst street vendors are not short anywhere in Mumbai, Colaba brings you authentic cuisines and architectural excellence that speaks the history and culture of Mumbai.

To sum it up… Aamchi Mumbai (meaning: My Mumbai) in all its true sense is what you feel after spending a few days in this city. It gives you a new life and a new perspective. A perfect place for new beginnings and the best burial ground for grief. I certainly dint spend enough time to absorb it all, so this goes back on the list for a revisit !
